The Free Energy of Spherical Bubbles in Lattice Su(3) Gauge Theory
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study the coefficients of the expansion F (R) = 1 3 c3R 3 + 1 2 c2R 2 + c1R of the free energy of spherical bubbles at T = Tc in pure glue QCD using lattice Monte Carlo techniques. The coefficient c3 vanishes at T = Tc and our results suggest that the sign and the order of magnitude of c1 is in agreement with the value c1 = ±32πT 2 c /9 (for hadronic bubbles in quark phase, + for quark bubbles in hadronic phase) computed by Mardor and Svetitsky from the MIT bag model. The parameter c2 is small in agreement with earlier determinations. 1) University of Helsinki, Department of Theoretical Physics, Siltavuorenpenger 20 C, 00170 Helsinki, Finland; kajantie@finuhcb. 2) Research Institute for Theoretical Physics, Siltavuorenpenger 20 C, 00170 Helsinki, Finland; permanent address Universität Bielefeld, Fakultät für Physik, Postfach 8640, D-4800 Bielefeld 1, BRD; [email protected]. 3) CERN/TH, CH-1211 Geneve, Switzerland; rummukai@cernvm.

New phases of finite temperature gauge theory from an extended action
We study the behavior of the order parameter, the phase diagram, and the thermodynamics of exotic phases of finite temperature gauge theory. Lattice simulations were performed in SU(3) and SU(4) with an adjoint Polyakov loop term added to the standard Wilson action. In SU(3), the pattern of Z(3) symmetry breaking in the new phase is distinct from the pattern observed in the deconfined phase. In...

U(1), SU(2), and SU(3) lattice gauge theories in presence of external fields are investigated both in (3+1) and (2+1) dimensions. The free energy of gauge systems has been measured. While the phase transition in compact U(1) is not influenced by the strength of an external constant magnetic field, the deconfinement temperature for SU(2) and SU(3) gauge systems in a constant abelian chromomagnet...
متن کاملPlaquette expectation value and lattice free energy of three - dimensional SU ( N c ) gauge theory
We use high precision lattice simulations to calculate the plaquette expectation value in three-dimensional SU(Nc) gauge theory for Nc = 2, 3, 4, 5, 8. Using these results, we study the Nc-dependence of the first non-perturbative coefficient in the weak-coupling expansion of hot QCD. We demonstrate that, in the limit of large Nc, the functional form of the plaquette expectation value with ultra...
متن کاملConfinement at Weak Coupling
The free energy of U(N) and SU(N) gauge theory was recently found to be of order N to all orders of a perturbative expansion about a center-symmetric orbit of vanishing curvature. Here I consider extended models for which this expansion is perturbatively stable. The extreme case of an SU(2) gauge theory whose configuration space is restricted to center-symmetric orbits has recently been investi...
متن کاملVortex solutions in SU(N ) adjoint Higgs theories
A relationship between vortex solutions in SU(N) gauge theories with two or more adjoint representation Higgs bosons and thick vortices of Center Vortex Theory is shown to exist. There is a similar relationship between monopole solutions of SU(N) gauge theories with a single adjoint representation Higgs boson and monopoles in Abelian Projection. New vortex solutions, relevant in central gauge f...
